Watergate Bay is close by and is certainly worthy of a visit. The Bay boasts an excellent mile long beach, which is popular with surfers. The Beach Hut restaurant provides fresh simply cooked bistro food in an outstanding location with views across the stunning Watergate Bay Beach.
The village of Par is a short stroll from Carlyon Court, nestled in the shores of St Austell Bay. This picturesque fishing port comprises several friendly pubs, shops and restaurants and offers scenic coastal walks and cycle paths. Padstow is another local fishing port with much to offer. Padstow is situated on the beautiful and rugged North Cornwall coast with its towering cliffs, wide sandy beaches, hidden coves and beautiful countryside. Fowey (pronounced Foy to rhyme with Joy) is situated on the south coast of Cornwall between Looe and Mevagissey. Fowey boasts an excellent selection of quality shops and galleries, many exhibiting local works. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this quaint harbour town has a unique charm all of its own.
Nearby Mevagissey, Cornwall is an attractive old town which was once the centre of Cornwall's Pilchard fishery, and still boasts a working harbour with a few dozen small fishing boats. In the narrow streets there are gift shops, craft workshops, galleries, cafes and pubs, not to mention several great fish restaurants and fish & chip shops!
