Charity of the Year

Delete Blood Cancer And Multiple Sclerosis Society Logo

We’re thrilled to announce that this year we’ve decided to split out fundraising efforts between two charities – Delete Blood Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis Social, who we believe will hugely benefit from what they receive from us.

Last year we raised over £15,000 for St. Leonard’s Hospice and would love to top that this year for our two chosen causes.

Here’s some more information about our wonderful charities:

Delete Blood Cancer

Registered charity no 1150056

Delete Blood Cancer is relatively new charity launching in 2013, with a key mission to increase the pool of lifesaving blood stem cell donors.

Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is told they have blood cancer such as, leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. No-one should have to go through this but sadly the majority of sufferers are children.

For someone with blood cancer, finding a person with a similar tissue type can be a matter of life and death and why Delete Blood Cancer aim to get people to join the UK Stem Cell Registry. At any one time, there are around 1800 people in the UK waiting for a blood stem cell donation and over 37,000 people waiting worldwide.

Multiple Sclerosis Society

Registered charity no 1139257 / SC041990

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects around 100,000 people in the UK who are normally diagnosed in between the ages of 20 and 40. MS affects almost three times as many women as men

MS is a condition of the central nervous system where the coating around the nerve fibres are damaged which cause a range of symptoms. Because of the damage, the messages that would usually travel quickly and smoothly between the brain and the rest of the body do not function properly by slowing down, becoming distorted, or not getting through at all.

If you are diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and symptoms. There is currently no cause and there is no found cure, but with donations research is progressing fast.

Our fundraising target for this year is £10,000; we’d appreciate any support you can give – even just £1 will make a difference.
