From the sprawling forests and trails of the Forest of Bowland, to the rolling rural hills surrounding the historical towns and thriving cities, just waiting to be explored, Lancashire truly has something for all the family.
Just a few miles from the park is the quaint town of Gisburn. Comprised of stone cottages, partly cobbled streets and a large 17th century inn, Gisburn is an idyllic, picturesque country village. Set slightly back from the village is the Gisburn Park Manor, once the seat of Lord of Ribblesdale overlooking the Forest of Bowland. Full of history and intriguing details this little village is the perfect day out.
Beyond Ribble Valley you’ll find the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty, offering 300 square miles of unspoilt landscape. There are so many ways this tranquil area can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities, whether by walking, cycling, fishing or horse riding. It’s no surprise this area attracts the same visitors time and time again, to the place where time stands still.
The beautiful scenery around Ribble Valley is truly amazing, and the best way to see it is first hand on foot. Whether you’re a rambler at heart and love nothing more than long walks, knee deep in wild grass or whether you just want a moderate walk to take in the beauty of your surroundings, Lancashire has something to offer everyone.
If you don't know the area well don't worry, there are plenty of guided walks, as well as nature trails and pony treks to try out whilst the weather is nice. If it's bad weather don't worry, you can always take advantage of our brand new owners only gym housed in the owners' lounge or take a dip in the pool at The Stirk House Hotel where owners swim free.
Just because Ribble Valley is in one of our more rural locations doesn’t mean you’ll struggle when looking for a restaurant, pub or cafe. With an abundance of country pubs serving delicious food, award winning restaurants and quaint cafes strewn throughout the picturesque villages, Lancashire won’t disappoint you when it comes to eateries.
If you'd prefer to cook up your own concoction it's not a problem. With an abundance or farm shops, farmers' markets and independent stores you'll be sure to find everything you need, and even better it's all locally produced!
