A beautiful staycation in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales

At Littondale Country & Leisure Park, you can enjoy the perfect relaxing getaway in the unspoiled surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales. Below you can read what one of our recent guests experience in our Glamping Pods was like, along with some tips on where to visit in the local area.

Visiting Littondale

Having lived in Leeds since my university days and originally coming from Skipton in North Yorkshire, I’m always saying I should go to the Dales more, as it’s such a gorgeous part of the world and it’s not that far away. And having bought a Cocker Spaniel puppy, Alfie, just before lockdown (a very crazy one!), there’s even more of a reason to get out in the great outdoors to wear the little rascal out.

And, like most of the country, we were very much in need, a.k.a. desperate, for a holiday and so we decided to go on a staycation to Park Leisure’s Littondale, in the heart of the Dales, to stay in a glamping pod. After not having been glamping before, we didn’t really know what to expect and were really pleased with what we got.

The glamping pod was very cosy and warm with everything you need, including a lovely hot shower, a toilet, kettle, fridge, microwave, toaster, corner sofa and TV, and a comfy bed of course! There was also some tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided, as well as a little cleaning kit, with a sponge and washing up liquid, all nice touches!

There was a little heater in the pod, which was very handy on one night when it got chilly, even though it was the end of June (the joys of British weather!). There was also a BBQ stand outside and we had BBQs on two evenings, buying food from a local nearby butcher.

When we arrived, we took a walk around the grounds, which were lovely, with four glamping pods in total and other static caravans and lodges. It was also super dog friendly, with a dog wash station, an enclosed dog field and a lead to tie him up outside. There were people staying in the other glamping pods and we chatted to them but also it felt like you had your own space and privacy.

Over the weekend, we took full advantage of being in the Dales, including a lovely walk around Kettlewell, which was about 10 minutes’ drive away. The views over the valleys were amazing and Alfie loved it, although we kept him on a lead due to the many sheep! We ended our walk with very well-deserved fish and chips at the Blue Bell Inn, a great pub in the village.

We also had a great trip to Malham Cove, which was about 30 minutes drive away and saw Janet’s Falls, although we didn’t take a dip in like some others were doing! There’s a great pub in Malham called the Beck Hall, where we gobbled down a delicious Sunday roast.

Littondale and the surrounding areas really does have everything you would want and more from a staycation and being pet friendly makes it even better so your pooch can enjoy a well needed break too!
