Bonfire night treats

We asked our teams what their favorite treats are for Bonfire night, here are the top picks we wanted to share...

Classic smores

For this bonfire treat you need 3 simple ingredient, biscuits, chocolate spread and marshmallows. This can be made inside or outside depending on if you have a firepit.

Start by layering some chocolate spread over a biscuit and topping with a marshmallow, place under the grill for 2 minutes to soften and slightly melt the marshmallow. Top with another biscuit to make a sandwich and tuck in!

Pizza pinwheels

This is an easy and tasty treat for dinner on Bonfire Night!

Roll out puff pastry until you have your desired amount. Spread a layer of passata over it, leaving a small border around the edges. Arrange your toppings evenly on top, (we love to use salami and olives!) then scatter the grated cheese over until evenly covered. Starting at one of the short ends, roll the pastry keeping it tight and once it is all rolled up place it on a tray to chill in the fridge for 10 minutes. Once chilled cut into even pieces and wash each with a beaten egg. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.

Bonfire cupcakes

Mix 110 grams caster sugar and 110 grams butter until it is a paste consistency, adding in 2 eggs in parts and whisking. Fold in 110 grams flour and 40 grams of coca powder until the mixture is fully combined and smooth. Fill your cupcake cases evenly leaving around 1cm for the cupcakes to rise. Bake for 12-14 mins and leave to cool for 30 mins to an hour before decorating. Top with icing and marshmallows and enjoy!

Toffee apples

This is a quick and simple treat we all love on bonfire night. Mix 400 grams golden caster sugar with 100 ml water on a low heat until smooth. Boil off the apples for a few minutes to remove the shiny finish so the toffee can stick. Place skewers through your apples to be able to hold and dip them into the toffee mixture.

Dip and twist your apples into the toffee and set on a tray lined with parchment paper use any toppings you like such as sprinkles and place aside to chill before tasting.
