1. Ingleton Falls
Start the week with one of the most popular tourist spots in Yorkshire - and for good reason!
The famous Ingleton Waterfalls Trail offers some of the most spectacular waterfall and woodland scenery in the North of England. The 8km trail guides you through ancient oak woodland and breathtaking Yorkshire Dales scenery dotted with a series of stunning waterfalls.
2. The Tolkien Trail
Make precious memories exploring the inspiration behind The Lord of The Rings. J.R.R. Tolkien was renowned for his love of nature and wooded landscapes, regularly staying in Stonyhurst College, where he spent a lot of his time working on the novels.
Channel your inner Frodo and take the peaceful 9km walk to explore the places that inspired his famous works that’ll leave you wanting more(door)!
3. Pendle Ski Centre
Get the Alpine skiing experience right here in England (well, almost!) Take in the scenery whilst mastering the (dry) slopes at Pendle Ski Centre. Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Heart of the Ribble Valley, they have something for all abilities, from skiing to tubing, so everyone can join in.
Fun for all the family, this is a great day out that offers something a little different for all those thrill seekers out there.
4. Ribblehead Viaduct
Possibly one of the most famous examples of Victorian engineering, this magnificent viaduct runs along the stunning Settle to Carlisle railway line. Its iconic location in the middle of the Three Peaks makes it a popular photo destination.
Put your feet up at one of the nearby cafes to really soak up its glory, it’s especially stunning at sunset, casting shadows along the surrounding countryside and creating an impressive silhouette against the orange sky.
5. Clitheroe Castle
Standing proud on Castle Hill and dominating Clitheroe’s skyline for over 800 years, Clitheroe Castle Museum is a must-see. Having recently had a complete makeover, it offers a day of exploration for all the family.
Explore the galleries, collections and displays which reveal amazing stories and take you on a journey through 350 million years of history. It’s also a chance to visit the only labyrinth in Lancashire!
