2020 has shown the true value of local communities, with more and more of us supporting our local businesses more and more. If like us you love local and are wondering how you could support your local village, town, city or even region a bit more, see our top tips for supporting your local friends, businesses and community.
Let’s face it, there’s nothing that quite beats the cream at the top of an ice cold bottle of milk! Help support your local dairy farmers by getting a weekly delivery of milk from an independent milkman, who knows you may be able to get some fresh farm eggs delivered, too.
The world of communication means it’s easier than ever to check in with family, friends and neighbours – without even having to see them. Check in regularly to help keep the morale up in your community and friendship circles.
Many independent businesses are now offering a local delivery service to your front door. Not just takeaway food – you can now get your groceries delivered from Bakeries, Butchers and Greengrocers. Your local newsagents, small convenience shops and independent pet shops may also be delivering supplies – take a look at your local shops on facebook to see what you might be missing.
Donating blood is still classed as essential travel, with just a few extra safety procedures in place. Now more than ever, support our NHS by giving blood (if you’re able to) at your local donation centre.
If you’re able to, making a donation to a local charity, project, fundraiser or appeal is more essential now than ever. A number of local care homes, food banks and regions have now created fundraising projects. Take a look here at Local Giving’s COVID-19 campaign.
