Our 11 park teams have been working hard to make our planting displays look spectacular for spring and summer. Below we have some top tips for planting beginners and some display must haves…
It's not only plants that can be used to spruce up your garden. You can space your plants evenly with gaps in between and fill them with light coloured pebbles for colour contrast. Also, adding small spot lighting can create a magical touch at night.
When starting to prepare your planting area remember to remove overgrown greenery & sow any seeds that aren’t in season anymore, so you have a clear, fresh area. Then, begin planting your new bulbs using a range of different flowers depending on the look you are going for.
Around our parks, colours are used that are sympathetic to the landscape reminding us just how within nature we are. Use this technique or plant brightly coloured flowers that will bloom in summer for an amazing landscape full of pops of colour.
Our maintenance teams love using raised beds to create height and a focal point to wide open spaces. You can even use these to plant your own vegetables! This should be started during March to May so they can bloom in summer and you can enjoy some fresh homegrown produce.
Top tip – make sure you maintain the planter giving it a fresh stain every so often as they can get discoloured due to the weather.
