Our team, at Ribble Valley Country & Leisure Park are aiming to raise £5,000 for a local charity by completing a 26-mile off-road cycling route around Gisburn Forest!
Leah Dodd, Scott Lee and Harry Sosnowy, who all work at our fantastic park, will be attempting the challenge on Wednesday 29th September and are fundraising for Ribble Valley Dementia Action Alliance.
The route begins at the park in Paythorne and then runs up to Gisburn Forest, where the riders will tackle the site’s ‘Bottoms Beck’ trail, which skirts past reservoirs and an old railway line. They will then return to their starting point and complete the 26-mile loop, approximately five and a half hours after setting off.
The event is part of our wider campaign to support local charities and follows a weekend of fundraising events at the Ribble Valley park, which involved everything from a raffle to staff being hit by wet sponges while in the stocks.
Allan Clark, General Manager at Ribble Valley Country & Leisure Park, said: “Charities have had a really tough time since the pandemic hit and we really want to do our bit to help out. We’re passionate about supporting our local communities and dementia is a topic that is particularly close to the hearts of our park members. That’s why we’re raising money to help fund the incredible work done by the Ribble Valley Dementia Action Alliance. We are incredibly proud of Leah, Scott and Harry for attempting this tricky challenge for such a good cause and we’ll certainly be cheering them on when they set off and arrive back at the park on Wednesday.”
