We’re delighted to say that the Park Leisure team and many of our owners have spoken and voted overwhelmingly to select the wonderful Macmillan Cancer Support as this year’s Charity of the Year.
It’s hard to find someone whose life has not, in some way, been touched by cancer. The work done by Macmillan and their support teams is invaluable in assisting not only patients, but their friends and families too.
Passionate about giving back and supporting incredible causes wherever possible, the entire Park Leisure business and our amazing owners will partake in a range of fundraising activities across the year to boost the annual total. In the last 10 years, we’ve been able to donate over £350,000 to a range of charitable organisations.
This year, we’re setting the bar high and aiming to beat our current donation record, which stands at incredible £116,000, raised in 2017. This was thanks to events at our parks and the 777 challenge, which saw three of the company’s directors and original co-founder cycle 700 miles across the length of seven central European countries in just seven days. You can relive the excitement, trials and tribulations of the 2017 777 cycling challenge here!
For 2019, our cycle challenge returns to boost funds for Macmillan. The Grand Finale is coming and it promises to be the biggest and most gruelling yet!
Director of Communications, Olly Gardner said: “The decision to support Macmillan Cancer Support was easy; the votes were overwhelmingly in favour of their incredible work and we’re proud to be getting behind them for 2019.
“We’ll be working across all parks to plan a series of events and fundraisers and there’ll be more news soon on our biggest cycle challenge to date, so stay tuned!”
