Summer Placement at Park Leisure
We caught up with Alex to see what she thought of her summer placement and what she'd say to anybody considering undertaking a summer placement or internship.
How did you find the application process?
The opportunity to work with Park Leisure was presented to me by my course director, and the role requirements which included social media content production, building relationships with parks and learning to work in a professional environment was something which I wanted to work towards to further expand my skill set and gain valuable experience. I submitted a CV and cover letter and found the interview friendly and informative, too. The experience was extremely positive for me.
What did you enjoy most about your placement?
I enjoyed developing my skills in posting and editing content for web, as well as learning how to build newsletters. In a professional environment working as a team, working independently and collaborating on ideas are important factors in producing successful work for the company. Being with the marketing team I have felt very welcomed and feel able to ask if I need help developing or want to explore different areas within the team, such as PR and design.
Did you find your placement valuable to your degree learning?
This experience is greatly important and valuable to my current studies, I feel the skills and work ethic I have learned and improved will benefit me greatly in my third year studies, professional practice and final projects.
How has the placement helped you in your future career ambitions?
I can see that hard work is paid off at Park Leisure, with employee recognition and development available for those in full-time positions, it has driven me to work hard in the future in order to get what I want in a career and hopefully see opportunity to develop to higher roles.
What advice would you give to anybody considering a summer placement with Park Leisure?
My advice is to tune into your creative media content ideas and be prepared to be able to be diverse within the role, you will learn multi-media skills as well as working through ideas and being able to take responsibility for the company’s brand and reputation through the work you will produce.
