Tasty Halloween treats

Whether you’re enjoying Halloween at home, on holiday or at your own holiday home these bakes are great for an activity on indoor rainy days and will fill your home with that cosy autumnal feeling.

Halloween monster cookies

These scarily cute monster cookies are great to make with the kids this Halloween! Soft and chewy, you can even add some chocolate chips to your mix for some extra Halloween indulgence!

You will need:
2 large eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups of plain flour
2 cups of oats
1 cup butter
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

• Using a large mixing bowl, add your butter and sugars and beat until fluffy.
• In a second mixing bowl combine your eggs and vanilla, mix, then combine with your butter and sugar mixture.
• Add in your baking powder and rolled oats.
• Once this is combined add your flour and mix again.
• Roll the dough into small balls and place onto a greased baking sheet.
• Bake in the oven at 160 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
• Finally, before the cookies have cooled add eyes where desired to the hot doughy cookies.

Pumpkin pie

A firm Halloween favourite, this sweet dessert is often underrated here in the UK but it’s a great one to bring into your Halloween traditions this year.

You will need:
Ready roll pasty (or you can make your own)
275g pumpkin puree
2 medium eggs
100g caster sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ginger
200ml evaporated milk

• Using a large mixing bowl, add your two eggs and beat until pale and fluffy.
• Fold in the pumpkin puree, caster sugar and spices until combined.
• Add the evaporated milk and gently mix in.
• Line your tin with your pastry then pour in your pumpkin mixture.
• Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 45 minutes then leave to cool.
• Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and enjoy!
