Northumberland

Water Sports

With miles of coastline, rivers, and lakes, what better way to explore Northumberland than to take to the water itself? Surf and paddleboard amongst seals, historic castles, and discover beautiful sunsets in this incredible part of the UK.

Whether you’re a beginner or pro, there are plenty of options around the region to suit your needs and abilities with a variety of different water sports available for you to try.

Offering surfing and paddleboarding for individuals and groups at various locations throughout Northumberland including Warkworth River and Cresswell Bay, Northside Surf School have many years of expertise to teach you some new skills.

Coquet Shorebase Trust

The Coquet Shorebase Trust are a community based charity located in Amble. Their main aim is to enhance people’s lives of all ages by offering a range of water-based activities, many of which take place in Amble and on Ladyburn Lake at Druridge Bay Country Park. Dry slope skiing

Take to the slopes in the heart of the Ribble Valley at Pendle Ski Club. This dry ski slope offers both skiing and snowboarding lessons to people of all abilities including families and members of their very own race squad. Located in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you’ll be blown away by the views, plus it’s just 12 miles from our Ribble Valley park.

Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Three Peaks

If you're looking for the ultimate challenge in and around the Yorkshire Dales, why not take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks? Covering 24 miles, and an ascent of 1585m the challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours. With spectacular views of the surrounding countryside it's a great way to spend a day and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end.

Canoeing

Stretching over 155 miles, the River Wye is the fourth longest river in the UK, starting at its source in Plynlimon in Wales to the Severn Estuary, and forming part of the border between England and Wales. With so much of the river to explore, Canoe the Wye offer a variety of day trips covering different parts of the river for individuals and groups of all abilities. Enjoy a leisurely pace so you can take in the beauty of the area from the river, whilst trying something new at the same time.

North Wales

Rib Ride

Take to the waves with Rib Ride to discover the best of North Wales from the water. Choose an exhilarating trip along along the Menai Strait, pass by Bangor Pier, take a tour of Puffin Island or discover Gogarth Bay and South Stack lighthouse with one of their exciting rib trips. It's a great way to see some of the top sights in the area, along with local wildlife such as seals, puffins, and if you're lucky you may even spot some dolphins.
