The UK’s best walking trails and where to get a pint along the way

Walking around the UK has become increasingly popular especially over the last couple of years, with people digging their walking boots out to get into the fresh air for some exercise.

At many of our parks we have some of the best walking routes nearby for you and the family if you want to see the very best of the UK and there’s nothing better after a long hike than rewarding yourself with a cold pint and a bite to eat.

With this in mind, we analysed the Google Reviews of pubs along the routes of Britain’s favourite walks, and the scenic coastal hike from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay took top spot, based on both the quality and quantity of refreshment options.

North Yorkshire took the crown with several walking routes making it into the top 10, including the Roseberry Topping walk, the Malham Cove to Gordale Scar walk and lastly the Ingleborough and Gaping Gill walk, all of which are easily accessible from any of our Yorkshire parks.

Cornwall also made the top 10 twice with their St. Ives to Zennor Walk and the Lizard Peninsula Walk.

As part of our research, we went one step further and observed how many rest-stops there are to enjoy the fresh air and a refreshment or two along the way.

The number of pubs is staggering on these walks, so you’ll never be short of an ice-cold refreshment.

The top 3 pubs with the highest ratings were:

• The Quarry Stone, Roseberry Toppings Walk, North Yorkshire (4.9 rating)
• Old Harry Bar, Old Harry Rocks walk, Dorset (4.8 rating)
• Pen Ceunaut Lsaf, Snowden Llanberis Path, Snowdonia (4.8 rating)

If you’re looking for a bite to eat however, the 3 most popular places to eat on these walks include:

• Great Ayton, Roseberry Topping Walk, North Yorkshire (4.7 average rating)
• Achintee, Ben Nevis Walk, Scottish Highlands (4.6 average rating)
• Malham, Malham Cove to Gordale Scar Walk, Yorkshire Dales (4.58 average rating)
