Time to explore Britain on World Tourism Day

This World Tourism Day, it’s time to celebrate the fantastic, high-quality and mind-blowing tourism on offer in Britain. It’s the people, places and experiences that help make holidays here so great.

At Park Leisure, we’re proud champions of the staycation. Our 12 luxury locations are handpicked for their stunning surroundings, meaning you’ll be guaranteed a slice of Britain’s finest coast or countryside.

The natural, unspoiled beauty of our parks’ surroundings, as well as the many fantastic museums, activities and other days out makes us truly proud of what British tourism can offer.

What are the best tourist activities on offer at our various luxury parks? Whichever park you’re at, there’s no shortage of nearby activities to get involved with, or sights to marvel at during our 12-month season, meaning you can experience them year round! As we’re pet-friendly, no one has to miss out! Why not bring your four-legged friend along to experience everything our parks and surrounding areas have to offer?

In the Cornwall area, we’re spoiled by natural beauty. Break free to the Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps, Par Beach, Fistral Beach and Perranporth Beach… and of course there’s a range of exciting activities. We’d recommend a visit to some of the fantastic tourist attractions in the area, including Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm and Lappa Valley Steam Railway. That’s not forgetting the charming, historic harbour towns of Port Isaac and Padstow, too.

We have three holiday parks in this stunning area of England, each with their own local attractions - Par Sands, Pentire  and Oyster Bay - with the first two also offering holidays & short breaks. With plenty to do in each local area, from family friendly fun at The Eden project to Cornish Wine Tours, you’re sure to find something that suits everyone.

In the Worcestershire & Herefordshire area, to get a real flavour of English tourism and heritage, we’d recommend you break free to The Malvern Hills, Hampton Court Castle and Queenswood & Bodenham Lake. That’s not to forget the fantastic local attractions nearby our stunning Malvern View park, either - why not check out The Time Machine Museum of Science Fiction and Herefordshire Cathedral

What about Northumberland, we hear you ask? Our Amble Links park is the perfect place for you to indulge in some English history at Warkworth Castle and Hermitage before taking a stop at Druridge Bay Country Park, as well as appreciating the charming beauty of Amble Harbour Village. And if you’ve got the whole family, a trip to Northumberland Country Zoo should be on the cards.

In Lancashire, there’s no shortage of mindblowing natural beauty - some of England’s finest scenery, no doubt. For starters, we’d recommend a stop at Ingleton Falls - and, for those Lord of the Rings fans, a walk through The Tolkien Trail. For some old school English architectural beauty, don’t miss the Ribblehead Viaduct as well as Clitheroe Castle. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more active, Pendle Ski Centre should fit the bill. Our Ribble Valley park is perfectly situated, overlooking Pendle Hill itself.

Yorkshire’s vast expanse offers plentiful opportunity to explore some fantastic tourist spots, with our Chantry, Yorkshire Dales and Littondale parks as the perfect bases - note that the latter also offers short holiday breaks!

A firm favourite of ours is the historic Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. The Yorkshire Dales National Park also can’t be ignored; and if you’re in the mood for a drink or two, the Black Sheep Brewery will whet your whistle. Wensleydale Creamery promises a great behind-the-scenes look into how a classic Yorkshire cheese is made and, if you’re a TV soaps fan, why not pop over to Emmerdale Farm?

For the perfect balance between a city break and countryside getaway, our beautiful Allerthorpe park is perfectly placed on the outskirts of York, in the heart of East Yorkshire. Set in an idyllic rural setting, get the best of both worlds with modern touches from York city centre and ancient history surrounding it. Why not spend the day soaking up history wandering York’s city walls, followed by tucking into a delicious lunch at the Star Inn the City overlooking the river? If you’re wanting to explore further afield, pay a visit to Burnbury Hall where you can wander the museum and gardens, enjoying their beautiful collection of water lilies on the lake.

At Park Leisure, you’re in the perfect location to make memories from either of our Welsh parks, both ideally placed. In North Wales there’s always plenty going on, whether you want a relaxing, tranquil weekend or an activity-filled adventure; so here are a few activities that might tickle your fancy.

From scenic walks through Snowdonia National Park and conquering Mount. Snowdon, to exploring iconic Welsh castles such as Beaumaris and Caernarfon, there is no shortage of incredible surroundings. For more spectacular views, why not wander along the glorious Menai Straits. Work up an appetite taking in the breathtaking scenery before stopping off at Dylan’s Restaurant at Menai Bridge.

If you’re interested in becoming an owner at any of our luxury holiday parks, check out our stunning locations. Note, too, that six of these also offer the opportunity to book short holiday breaks! They’re handpicked to boast some of the best surrounding British scenery you could hope for. Whilst summer’s been and gone, holidays don’t have to end there, especially here at Park Leisure where there’s a 12-month season. We have plenty of last-minute autumn deals, including half-term.
