Wales Events for Autumn Season

What's going on in Wales?

Autumn is in full swing and October is packed with events for you to visit. Spend a day at a food festival or an afternoon listening to music in the capital. There’s also lots of walking festivals taking place all across Wales, perfect for taking in the autumn-coloured countryside.

Wales Rally

3rd - 6th October

The British leg of the FIA World Rally Championship takes place over four thrilling days at Llandudno's seafront as well as an additional saturday evening test set at Colwyn Bay's promenade - a real crowd pleaser!

Comedy Festival

4th - 6th October

The Aberystwyth Comedy Festival is made up of around 40 individual shows which take place in venues near Aberystwyth's seafront. The full line up will be announced nearer the time, but last year's shows included Rhod Gilbert, Tudor Owen, Suzi Ruffell and Anna Mann.

Cardiff Half Marathon

6th October, Cardiff

Competitors race right through Cardiff city centre past some iconic locations, with beautiful scenery and historic buildings, starting at Cardiff Castle, and passing the Millennium Stadium, Penarth Marina, before crossing the Cardiff Barrage and racing through Cardiff Bay before finishing close to Cardiff City Hall.



Real Ale Train

19th October, Llangollen

All aboard The Real Ale Train on the Llangollen Railway! Enjoy a selection of real ales on a heritage steam train while taking in the scenic surroundings of this part of North Wales.


Cardiff International Film Festival

24th- 27th October, Pierhead, Cardiff

Held in the historic Pierhead building in Cardiff Bay, the Cardiff International Film Festival attracts entries from all over the world. The festival is open to the public, although some venues may charge an entrance fee.


Gwledd Conwy Feast

25th - 27th October, Cowny

Set within the world heritage site of Conwy, the festival can boast a 13th century castle, town walls, towers and a working quayside as a backdrop. Conwy is also the last rake-only mussel fishing community in the UK and the Feast is held in October to coincide with their season. The exciting programme includes music, art, farming, and also showcasing Wales’ makers, artists and those using traditional building skills.
