What is the lifespan of a caravan?

Here at Park Leisure, our ethos is simple – a lifetime of holidays. Some owners choose to keep their static caravan or lodge for, quite literally, a lifetime, but many choose to upgrade after some time.

The first things is to consider is that there is a difference between how long your static caravan will physically last and how long a holiday park may allow you to keep your static caravan on pitch. The other main reason holiday home owners choose to upgrade is to stick with the trends as many interiors and features soon become outdated in the world of fashion and technology.

What is the life expectancy or a static caravan?

If a caravan is well cared for they can go for years and years; you can almost replace or renew every part of a static caravan. It's not uncommon to see some people with caravans as old as 30 years, although many decide to upgrade their caravan to a more modern interior, updated mod-cons and sized-up model.

A site license agreement, sometimes referred to as a pitch license document or agreement, sets out the terms of your agreement when you move on to a holiday park. This is incredibly important to cover when planning on moving to a holiday park, as it is a legally binding document which should include how long you can remain on the park with your holiday home.

In relation to the carvaan itself, a site license agreement will usually state the following:

There are a few options to consider when you've fallen out of love with your holiday home - it may be that your family has outgrown your holiday home, it may be on the old fashioned side, you may love your caravan but not your holiday park - the list goes on. If you've fallen out of love with your park or the caravan lifestyle, your customer care team are more than happy to discuss your options and let you know what you can do around trading in your caravan, arranging a private sale or even moving it elsewhere. Many holiday home owners decide to sell their caravan with dreams of upgrading to a larger holiday home or better pitch on park.
