What’s On In Yorkshire and Lancashire In March 2019: Our Pick of Activities & Events

The days are getting longer and the weather is slowly picking up - perfect for a getaway, right? Here are a few activities in the Yorkshire-Lancashire area that might tempt you to take an impromptu break at Chantry, Littondale, Ribble Valley or our Yorkshire Dales Country & Leisure Park.

Make some memories this March by getting involved with some of the below.

1. A Beginner’s Night Sky at Malham

Complete stargazing newbie? Not to worry - get yourselves down to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales village of Malham! Allow the Rangers at Malham Tarn to guide you through the galaxy. You’ll learn some of the basic stars and constellations and how to navigate between them - note that booking is essential for this event.

2. Spring Steam Gala

What better way to bring in spring than with ‘a large-scale all-steam spectacular’? The event will contain the home fleet and some guest locomotives - the kids are bound to have a great day out! We’re sure you’ll also be able to find time to stop in for a refreshing drink at the railway’s award-winning Trackside Bar, too.

3. Burscough Wharf Artisan Market

Indulge in Burscough’s collection of independent shops and restaurants; the artisan market is open on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month (2nd and 16th March).

It’s a family-friendly market which showcases ‘high-quality art, unique handmade crafts’ as well as ‘locally-produced honey, cheese, jams, confectionary, cakes, savouries & chutneys’. When you’re done shopping, make sure to check out the wharf - a beauty spot in itself! Perfect for nature-spotting and dog walking.

4. This is Yorkshire

Immerse yourself in, and explore the Yorkshire Dales through the eyes of these two contemporary artists, Rosemary North and Sue Dewhurst. In Sue’s words, This is Yorkshire promises ‘bright, bold landscapes and gritty Yorkshire characters with a bit of Northern humour chucked in for good measure’.

The exhibition is running from Saturday 9th March - Wednesday 20th March 2019. Why not use it as an excuse to explore the historic market town of Richmond? After all, it hasn’t been called the ‘most romantic place in the North East’ for nothing...

That’s not all, of course. We’ve picked out a few of our favourites; why not see everything that’s on according to Welcome To Yorkshire and Visit Lancashire? As such an incredible, diverse area, there’s an unbelievable amount going on; there’s sure to be something else to tickle you and your family’s fancy.

Convinced you to leave it all behind for a quick, luxury break this March? Your relaxing, memory-filled weekend awaits - see you soon!
