Choosing your holiday home; what is the difference between static caravans and lodges?

Static Caravans for sale

Caravans are smaller than lodges, measuring up to anything below 16 ft in width - but rest assured that caravans are designed to make the very most out of the space. Less space generally means less price too, with the starting price for static caravans much lower than that of a lodge. You can view our range of static caravans for sale on one of our sites here.

Luxury Lodges for sale

Our range of lodges measure anywhere between 16 to 20 ft in width, making them super spacious and great for entertaining. Luxury lodges often feature an en-suite shower room and larger open plan living areas. You can view our range of luxury lodges for sale on one of our sites here.

Super Lodges for sale

Some of our parks offer super lodges, the ultimate in luxury holiday park living. Super lodges offer the very best in interior and exterior finishes, and are well designed throughout. Measuring above 20ft in width, these super lodges may come with a higher price point, but they're definitely going to impress.

We love absolutely everything about Par Sands and wouldn’t change a thing! We’ve upgraded twice since purchasing our first holiday home and each time has been made really easy by the wonderful Park Leisure Team. We chose Par Sands because we’ve always loved the area and it’s so convenient for us - we visit most weekends as we only live around 40 minutes away. We have been at Par Sands for 6 years and upgraded 4 times, our last upgrade being June this year! Before we came to Par Sands we looked at many other parks to suit a variety of budgets but felt Par Sands was clean, well-presented, had lovely grounds and the sales team are really helpful when needed. Every time we have upgraded it was stress free and we couldn’t believe how fast we moved into our new holiday home. We find when we are at Par Sands, there is no need to use your car as all facilities needed are around you including shops, take-away, fresh fruit and veg. The big bonus for us is that you are right on the beach which is also very dog friendly. We spend as much time as possible just relaxing at Par Sands and we would recommend it to any-one as the perfect get away.

Take away the idyllic views, the fantastic park and the superb lodge and what are you left with? A management team and staff who are knowledgeable, obliging, caring, courteous and above all else, efficient! We moved to Chantry in April after several years on a site near Ripon. Having spent a weekend with friends who also have a lodge on the park, we were sold! We were fortunate enough to find a fantastic lodge in the perfect position for us - the rest is history. We know we've only been on the park for a couple of months but we aren't going anywhere for a long long time! That's testament not only to Wensleydale itself, which is beautiful, but to Park Leisure and in particular Chantry near Leyburn. FAQ's

Do we have to find our own finance?

No, Park Leisure works in partnership with a number of major lenders including Santander and Black Horse Finance (part of the Lloyds Banking group).

Our sales teams are on hand to discuss financing options and arrange for quotations upon request.

Can I move my holiday home onto your park?

If you are an existing caravan owner on another park but are unhappy with your current location, we will happily consider the relocation of your current holiday home to a Park Leisure park.

A full appraisal of your current holiday home will be required and a full move-on quotation be supplied (including charges for disconnections, collection, transportation, delivery and re-connection) before we discuss siting your static caravan at one of our parks.

Alternatively we can also offer a quotation to part exchange your holiday home with us, and start afresh. Please feel free to contact your chosen park who will be delighted to discuss further, you can find a list of our parks here.

I already own a holiday home at another holiday park, will I be able to part-exchange to a holiday home you have on your park?

Absolutely. We will always happily consider a part-exchange, so please bring specific details of the holiday home you own with you when you visit the park so that we can give you an indication of the allowance we will give towards your new purchase.

Will you part exchange my tourer?

Yes, if you've decided to upgrade from touring home to static we'll work out a part exchange deal specifically for you. Just speak to one of our on-park team members for more details. Our parks specialise in sited static caravans, so you may be able to bring your tourer to a few of our parks for a short break before choosing your perfect static caravan.

What are my payment options?

Simply put, you can either purchase your holiday home outright or pay a deposit and finance the rest of your holiday home. Park Leisure works in partnership with a number of major lenders including Santander and Black Horse Finance (part of the Lloyds Banking group) for static caravan finance. Our sales teams are on hand to discuss financing options and arrange for quotations upon request.

What are site fees and how much do they cost?

You might see site fees advertised whilst researching your perfect park home experience and you may wonder what this cost entails. Site fees are an additional cost, but an important one. Site fees cover essential works and services to maintain your holiday experience and high standards you’d expect around the park. These can vary by park, as can the elements they cover but as a guide they usually include water, rates, maintenance team support, warranty and gardening/manicured lawn service. They also cover things like park landscaping, street lighting, park security, and refuse and gas bottle collection. Site fees very from park to park, but start from as little as £3,350 right up to £8,950, remember, when comparing site fees our parks are open the full 12 months for you to enjoy.

Can I bring my pet?

All of our holiday parks are extremely pet-friendly. We have dedicated dog walking areas at all of our parks, and many include dog washing facilities and areas within bars and restaurants where you can bring your four-legged friend along. Many of our current owners also choose to bring cats, birds and rabbits to their holiday home, ask our team of experts for more information about bringing your pets to our parks.

How can I reserve one of your static caravans for sale?

You can book a free park visit to come and sample life as an owner for a day. You can speak to your team about any questions you may have and they can through all the details you need. If you’re in love with the lifestyle (we’re sure you will be!), you can put down a deposit to secure your holiday home of choice.

Do you allow subletting?

Some of our holiday parks run sublet schemes, where others may not, it can be a useful way of generating income and make holiday home ownership more affordable for you. Many parks also have a sublet management service that will take the effort out of subletting for you. You can expect a charge for any sublet service to cover managing holiday bookings, cleaning and linen changes, however this fee is normally taken as a deduction from the holiday booking with no upfront charge to you. Contact our park teams to find out more.

Are your parks residential?

Although we operate a 12 month season, no, you can’t live on a a Park Leisure holiday park permanently. You must have a main address as your permanent residence, which your holiday home cannot be. Strictly speaking, your holiday home should be for recreational and holiday purposes.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy countless trips away — but it’s often not in a holiday park’s remit to allow permanent residence. If you did so, you’d most likely be in breach of your license agreement. So if you're thinking about purchasing one of our holiday caravans for sale, remember it's just that - a holiday caravan not a residential holiday home.

What bills do I have to factor in?

As well as paying for your holiday home (either out right or using finance for your static caravan), you must also consider ongoing site fees, rates and insurance. Our team will be able to give you quotes and estimates to ensure you’re aware of all fees before committing to a purchase. There’s also seasonal optional charges to consider such as draining down and external holiday home cleaning.

Will my UK holiday home come furnished?

All of our brand new static caravans on site and luxury for lodges on sale come with a dress kit including furniture and built-in electrical appliances. We may run specific promotions throughout the year where you can get soft furnishings included in your purchase, speak to our expert sales teams on your viewings to find out what offers are available.
